How to install step by step if you already got a Golf mk7 interior lighting kit at hand?

·Preparation

Three steps before you start installation, then you can save more time especially when you are the first time to install. They are getting installation tools, unbox VOYEEGO ambient lighting package and do a table test(not necessary).  

1)Tools

You will need some tools during the installation. You can get a simple tool if you install by yourself. If you are a workshop, you can invest some professional tools to get more cars installed. Here are the tools you may need:

Welding Machine	Automotive Tool Box	Electric Drill	Multimeter

Insulation Tape	Pryer Tool	Round Blade Pliers

 

Notes for Alternatives: A simple welding gun instead of the ultrasonic welding machine. A screw driver instead of a box of tool.  

2)VOYEEGO ambient kit for Golf 7 7.5 GTI

Check all full set cable and leds are ready there. There will be one passenger dashboard led, four door panel leds, four door handle leds, two door(rear) armrest leds, four door storage box leds, two door(front) armrest leds, four footwell leds. 3)Table Test

If you are a professional garage, here’s the thing you can prepare before customer’s car comes. Set a table for testing, and get 12 volts to get power, and GND for safety. (Click here to check how to test functions before installation)

·Check Before Installation

Turn off the car first. It’s a safe way to do modification on a car. The underlying risks of battery drain is unavoidable when you don’t keep this in mind.    

·Disassembly

If you would like to do the installation at one time, the first thing is to do “take off”.  From dashboard, console center to the door card, where you will put the leds on need to take off the panel there. Also there are screws needed to be taken off. And you will need to find a right place to gather the trim and parts. Then you will get well-organized resume process. Also you will unplug the connectors to pull out or put the trim off. Remember the connectors, it will help a smooth installation. And we will recommend to start from the dashboard part, although the guidance of installation may not start from the dashboard. Cuz you will need to connect the power cable and get the power from the car fuse box ACC(where it has 12v when the car is on, and no voltage when the car is off).  

For the door part, you will need to take off the door handle, door handle screws and the whole door card. Take off oem door trim to be ready for the door trim leds replacement or stick leds strips on.

For the dashboard part, you need to take off the headunit, fuse box cover, footwell part cover, saddle side cover, and passenger side trim.

·Connection | Plug and Play | Golf 7 Ambient Light Retrofit

The next step is all about connection. Cable connection between oem connectors to new kit connectors, as well as connection of new leds connectors to the controller box. During cable connection process, some cable feeding is required. From center headunit part to driver side fuse box, from dashboard feeding through saddle to rear door footwell, which is easy but will take time to get feeding through. Tips: make sure you put the right door controller box, each door has its own box, don’t mixed them up otherwise it will not work properly.

For the door part, factory door trims will be replaced for dragon scale patterns kit. After that, you can choose to install door handle leds or not. Drill a hole to get the door handle leds and storage box leds installed. It will keep clean interior for the upgrade. The connectors on the door is plug and play, do connection of cables and the sub controller for each door.

For the dashboard part, plug radio headunit connectors to get adaptation. Feed the cable to fuse box part to get connection with fuse box ACC, and do cable connection from the factory connectors to new kit cable.

 

·Check the functions before closing

If you’ve done table test then you can skip some steps here. Do the checking before resume interior cover and screws back will save time for checking what’s wrong if the lighting works abnormal. It may be some setting you missed, or some cables have not been connected. Make sure to take detailed videos of connection to tell our online support if you need correct solutions quickly. Followings are what you need to check:

Firstly check the power of the main controller box. If the main box blinks fast regularly, it means it works. Then check if all lighting is on. And take out your mobile phone, go “ambientlight+” control app, get connected with the bluetooth and change colors, modes and turn on welcome mode to make sure every leds works correctly. ·Resume

Congratulations! Here comes the easiest part of installation and it’s coming to the end. Now you’ve got familiar with all the parts. When it’s time to resume, it means you can find the correct part to put them back. Car door card with new trim leds, center console headunit, screws and some covers you’ve taken off, you can put them back now. Only the trim replaced parts, you can throw them away!

·Turn on/off

The lighting will be on/off sync with car ACC. When you start car engine, it’s on. When the engine’s off, so does the lighting. If you want to turn it off when car engine is on, then take out your phone, go the ambient control app to switch it off.

①Keep OEM System Control. You can still change colors on the original screen ambient menu. If the ambient menu is activated by some obd tools, it can support screen control as well.
